What is YaST?

YaST is the installation and configuration tool for openSUSE and the SUSE Linux Enterprise distributions. It is popular for its easy use and attractive graphical interface and the capability to customize your system quickly during and after the installation. YaST actually stands for Yet another Setup Tool. YaST can be used to configure your entire system. Setup hardware, configure the network, system services and tune your security settings. All these tasks can be reached from the YaST Control Center.

FlipOS uses YaST too because we are based in openSUSE. With YaST you can do lot of tasks easily and powerfully.

So, you wanna install software? Use YaST:

YaST Software Management

Wanna configure a printer? A joystick? Sound drivers? Use YaST.

You can even use YaST for configuring the network but that option is deactivated by default. You can activate it.

You can install the system to a hard drive with YaST too.

The best thing is you can expand YaST with modules so if you install package yast2-tv you can configure TV cards with YaST or yast2-backup for backing up your system.

You can start YaST from K Menu --> Computer --> YaST. You'll need root privileges, just insert your root password when asked, if not you can only use modules for non-root users.
