FlipOS comes preloaded with lots of apps, so you don't have to download a lot more. Here are some applications:

Browse the web:

Mozilla Firefox is one of the browsers' leaders and comes by default with FlipOS. It's fast and secure, and you can add functionalities with extensions!

Office:

With OpenOffice.org you can make professional documents, spreadsheets and presentations easily. The Base (database), Draw (diagrams) and Math (equations) aren't installed by default, but you can get them easily. It's fully compatible with Microsoft Office. It has all the features you want.

Get free software:

With YaST you can get more software easily. Linux software installation is different. If you read this document, you'll get it quickly.

Basically, in the user's system there's a package manager (in this case YaST) that takes packages (programs) from repositories (installation sources) that contains metadata (information about packages avaible in that repositories), packages (as we said, these are the applications) and packages' dependencies (packages that other packages need for working)

The dependencies are automatically gathered from your package manager when installing a package!

Email & chat:

With KMail you can read email right in your desktop. It's easy to use and it's fully integrated with KDE.

Kopete is default messenger, that supports lot of protocols as MSN, Yahoo!, XMPP (Jabber), Facebook, AOL, GTALK, etc...

I'm working in a tutorial for getting Skype!

Music & video:

AmaroK is the best audio player and it's integrated with KDE. DragonPlayer is a simple video player.

They're both fully integrated with KDE.

Photos:

FlipOS includes Gwenview for viewing photos. Fully integrated too!
